Suicide commando @ reithalle strasse E - Dresden 20.10.2006 I'm not used to write reviews about our own shows, but I nevertheless will give it a try ... 20.10.2006: today we're supposed to catch up one of our canceled tour dates from last April when my father suddenly died. It's 4.30 in the morning when we get up, after all it's promising to become a very long and busy drive to Eastern Germany. The trip went surprisingly well, no traffic jams, no problems so far. When we arrive at the club the rest of our live crew is already there. Since we're supposed to record this show on video for our planned live dvd, things need to be prepared into detail. Sound, lights, 8 camera's ... It's all there and things seem to work out fine, even though soundcheck is taking (too) long. The fact that this show will be recorded on video makes it all a bit different from usual, so I'm also getting a bit more nervous then usual, so time for some beer ... Doors open and the first people get in. ![]() I somehow expected more people, no idea why not more people showed up, the next day we'll play in Berlin for a completely packed K17, so strange that the Reithalle stays half empty. But in the end it doesn't really matter if you play in front of 10 or 10000 people, most important is that the people enjoy the show and have fun. And already after a few tunes it's getting clear that the audience is in a good mood. Somehow my performance always is depending on the crowd's response, if the crowd is in for a party, I'm also in for a party ... So there we go. Takes a few songs to get the monitor sound right, but then things are running smoothly. As soon as I set one foot on stage, nervosity is gone as usual and is taking place for pure adrenaline. Sometimes a bit too much adrenaline as I often end up hurting myself without knowing (hitting myself with the microphone, jumping around like a fool, throwing with microphones, ending up in the crowd ...), but oh well, would be boring without any adrenaline rush ... The show is over before we even realize, 60 minutes seem like 6 minutes. We leave the stage but the crowd keeps screaming for more, so we soon enter the stage again for 2 encores ... Only 2 as the crowd keeps screaming for more, but unfortunately we can't do any more encores as we don't have any videoclips left, and since everything was planned into detail because of the video recording, we need to stick to the plan, so no more encores ... Sorry ! Mission accomplished ! First results I saw so far from the recordings are very promising, so I'm confident the live dvd will turn out great. Should be out in a few months, so watch out for that one ! Johan. Suicide commando. |
